Rajarshi Sengupta
Rajarshi Sengupta is an artist and Ph D Scholar at the Dept. of Art History, Visual Arts, and Theory, at the University of British Columbia. He is a recipient of the “UBC Four-year Fellowship and International Institute of Asian Studies Travel Grant. Previously he worked as a Junior Research Fellow at National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bangalore (India) from 2011 to 2013. He has a Masters of Fine Arts from S. N. School of Arts & Communication, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad (2009-2011) and Bachelors of Fine Arts from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata (2005-09). He wrote for print and online journals such as Art & Deal, and sahapedia.org, and also contributed to "The Printed Picture: Four Centuries of Indian Printmaking- volume 2", "Manifestations VIII," published by Delhi Art Gallery (2012), and "Trajectories: 19-21st Century India and Pakistan,” Sharjah Art Museum (2014). He had his first solo art show titled “450 Miles of Thriving Silence” at Gallery Sumukha, Bangalore (2012) He participated in the International Institute of Asian Studies (University of Leiden) Summer School 2014, at Chaing Mai, Thailand, and presented papers at “Frames of Reference”, at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai (2011), “Curating Indian Visual Culture: Theory and Practice”, University of Hyderabad (2011), and “Imagined Worlds: 14th Annual York University Art History Graduate Symposium”, Toronto (2015).
